School History
Keng Seng Primary School was established on 2 January 1979 from the merger of three schools – Keng Seng School, Strathmore Primary School and Friendly Hill Primary School. Located at 143 Alexandra Road, it was officially declared open on 27 June 1980.
In February 1990, the school began a project, “Care and Share”, to inculcate in the students a spirit of cooperation and the right attitude towards work. The project included a “buddy system”, whereby upper primary students were paired with lower primary students to help the younger children with their reading.
The school had a regular newsletter, which was known as Delight.
In January 2002, Keng Seng Primary School merged with Alexandra Hill Primary School, Bukit Ho Swee Primary School and Henderson Primary School to become Gan Eng Seng Primary School.
Last Serving Principal:
- Mdm Florence Chong Peng Hua (1999 - 2001)

School Crest

The crest is made up of the combination of the outstanding qualities of three schools. The name Keng Seng is taken from Keng Seng School. The logo is taken from Friendly Hill Primary School. The motto is taken from Strathmore Primary School.
The three figures represent the three schools, which are united harmoniously under one roof. Hands are clasped and raised to symbolise unity, harmony and interdependence of one to the other in striving for the success of the school and country.
The school colours beige and chocolate brown signify the dignity of work and the labour force and the cultivation of the correct attitude towards labour. The school’s motto “Strive For Success” underlines the crest.
School Song
We’re young nation builders
Despite our tender age
And with Keng Seng as our guide
We shall make our nation great.
Chorus:
Strive, Keng Seng, strive
For success and improvement
In our beloved land
Of lovely Singapore.
So to Keng Keng we shall turn
For guidance and for strength
That we may learn to serve
Our fellow countrymen.
We’re children of today
And teachers of tomorrow
To work and serve with readiness
Will be our sacred motto.
