Former Principal, Mr Chew Chong Teng brought the key personnel of Yung An and Merlimau Primary Schools for a site visit to Lakeside Primary School.

The official opening of Lakeside Primary School on 23 July 2004, graced by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the then Minister for Education.

Lakeside Primary celebrates 15th anniversary with the musical performance “Chasing the Rainbow” in April 2017.

School History

Lakeside Primary School was formed from the merger of Jurong Town Primary, Merlimau Primary and Yung An Primary. The three schools were situated in Taman Jurong and had relatively long histories. Jurong Primary was officially opened on 28 March 1968, while Merlimau Primary began its humble beginnings in 1964, the oldest of the three schools. Yung An, which means ‘Forever Peaceful’, was named thus as it was located within the beautiful and peaceful Jurong Lake district. 

Situated along Corporation Walk, Lakeside Primary was officially opened in January 2004. In 2014, the school was accorded the Learning for Life Programme in ARTS De La Scène. The following year, the school completed its PERI upgrading. In 2017, Lakeside Primary celebrated its 15th anniversary.

School Crest

The Lakeside Primary School crest reflects the spirit and aspirations of its students and staff. The school crest depicts a blue falcon against a yellow background soaring towards five orange stars. The stars represent the five domains for development: academic, physical, aesthetics, moral and social. The graceful falcon soaring with her magnificent wingspan above the five stars encapsulates the spirit and aspirations of the students and staff of Lakeside Primary to achieve excellence across these five domains of development.

Blue symbolises creativity and fluidity in the exchange of knowledge and skills among teachers, teachers and stakeholders. Orange epitomises the school’s exuberance and vibrant learning environment. The yellow background represents the noble school values of love, perseverance, responsibility, integrity, diligence and respect.
