School History
Monk’s Hill Secondary School was established in 1958. In 1961, Monk’s Hill Secondary was converted into an integrated school, offering both Malay- and English-stream classes.
In 1967, the school held its first speech and prize presentation day. In 1968, the school established its School Advisory Committee. In 1976, it converted into an English-medium school.
In 1993, the school moved to a new school compound at 12 Winstedt Road. In the same year, it became a single-session school. In 2005, the school won the Academic Value Award. In addition to academic achievements, the school also excelled in sports, especially in inter-school rugby tournaments in the 1960s and 1970s.
In January 2007, Monk’s Hill Secondary School merged with Balestier Hill Secondary School.

The temple bell is a symbol of the school’s historical past and a harbinger of the Monkshillian Spirit. The branching laurel of the school’s diverse achievements rests on a gentle blue, the colour of humility and quiet reflection.
