School History

Rangoon Secondary School, also known as Rangoon Road Secondary School, was established in January 1967 with English and Chinese streams. It offered courses in Science, Technical, Art and Commerce. It was officially declared open on 9 July 1968.

In 1991, Rangoon Secondary School became a single-session school.

The school did well in various sports, including hockey and volleyball. In the 1970s, the hockey girls’ team was district champions for many consecutive years. The school also excelled in artistic and cultural pursuits. In the 1990s, the Chinese Cultural Dance Club and Indian Cultural Dance Club performed at the Singapore Youth Festival.

Rangoon Secondary School merged with Balestier Hill Secondary School in January 2001.
