School History
River Valley High School (originally known as the Singapore Government Chinese Middle School and then Queenstown Government Chinese Middle School) was established in 1956. In 1958, the school was relocated to Jalan Kuala and was renamed River Valley Government Chinese Middle School.
In 1979, River Valley High School was selected to be a Special Assistance Plan school. It moved to West Coast Road in 1986. River Valley High School became single-session in 1993 and gained autonomous status in the following year.
In 2006, River Valley High School began offering the Integrated Programme and celebrated its 50th anniversary. In 2007, the school started offering the Bicultural Studies Programme and established the Centre of Excellence for Science and Technology (West Zone). The school moved from its holding site on Malan Road to new premises on Boon Lay Avenue in 2010.
River Valley High School currently offers the Construct, Integrate, Differentiate Programme as well as Eco-Sustainability and Student Leadership programmes. Academic development platforms on Bicultural Studies, Science and Mathematics, Humanities and Social Studies are also provided to nurture students’ talents and interests.
The school was officially declared open in 2010 and is currently located at 6 Boon Lay Avenue.
