Tampines Primary School started in 1985 at Yumin Primary School before moving to its own premise at Tampines Street 12 in 1986.

The school had its official opening in 1986. The Guest-of-Honour gracing the occasion was the then Acting Minister for Trade and Industry Mr Lee Hsien Loong.

In 2010, Tampines Primary School moved back to its current location after undergoing PRIME.

As part of our Primary 5 integrated trail, students were given opportunities to assume roles such as scientists or researchers to enrich their learning in an authentic environment (2017).

School History

Tampines Primary School was established in 1985. The following year, the school moved to its present location at Tampines Street 12.

In 2007, the school underwent PRIME upgrading, and became single-session in 2008. The school celebrated the completion of its new building in November 2009 with a homecoming walk.

As the first community school in Singapore, Tampines Primary School leverages on the use of community resources to enrich the students’ learning to contribute as concerned citizens. The partnership allows a cohesive and caring culture to take place among the communities in Tampines West. Leveraging its culture of excellence, the school was conferred the School Distinction Award in 2010 and 2014.  These achievements are the results of a shared vision and strong collaboration between school, stakeholders and partners.

School Crest

The school crest shows the stylised letters ‘T’ and ‘P’, which stand for ‘Tampines Primary School’. It also signifies a child graduating from the school with an education towards the future incorporating information technology.

The colours white, blue and red give a vivid identity of the school. The white background depicts the child’s purity of mind. Blue depicts the hallmark of excellence where the sky is the limit. Red represents the vibrancy of the school’s programmes. The two lines represent the foundational steps towards achieving the desired outcomes of education and a bright future. The round shape represents a holistic education for the students with the total involvement of the school and the community.
