School History

Upper Serangoon Secondary School was originally known as Upper Serangoon Technical School. Located at 279 Upper Serangoon Road, the school was officially opened on 17 June 1966 to offer technical education, with English and Chinese as the language of instruction. In 1994, the school was renamed as Upper Serangoon Secondary School. 

In September 1999, the school was awarded “The Most Improved School in the Thinking Culture Award, North Zone”. The school also participated in the MOE’s pilot scheme in installing the FM system to enhance learning during lessons for these students.

In January 2004, Upper Serangoon Secondary School merged with First Toa Payoh Secondary School.
