The school’s founder, Chua Cheok San, had no financial resources but he had a dream to give the children in the village a better life through education (1930)

The school anchored itself at 45 Hougang Ave 1 with better facilities and took on the hanyu pinyin version of its name: Xinghua Primary School (1985).

Charlton School and Parry Primary School merged with Xinghua Primary School in 2003 and 2007 respectively (2003 & 2007).

Riding on its rich history, Xinghua is committed to serving the community. Under the stewardship of Mrs Chandrika Mano, the school seeks to reach out to the community and new partners in education (2018).

School History

Xinghua Primary School was founded in 1930. The school was then known as Sing Hua Public School. In 1957, the school became a government-aided school. In 1973, the school became an integrated government school offering English and Chinese as first languages. In 1985, Sing Hua Public School was renamed Xinghua Primary School. In 1985, the school moved to its present location at 45 Hougang Avenue 1.

In 2003, Xinghua Primary School merged with Charlton School. In 2005, the school was officially declared open. In 2007, Xinghua Primary School merged with Parry Primary School.
