The RaDiAL Leadership Framework was created in 2009 to guide the college’s leadership development efforts. The college believes that every student is a student leader and sees leadership development as integral to our students’ education.

In 2004, YJC embarked on a branding journey which aimed to transform the college’s image and enhance the learning environment of our students. “Challenging the mind, Touching the Spirit” was YJC’s tagline, as seen in this publicity postcard.

YJC’s campus being constructed. This picture shows the main façade of the building. The land where YJC stands was once a fruit orchard and fish pond. The architectural design of the college blends, in the words of the architect Meng Ta-Cheng, "Today's technology and yesterday's traditions" within a rustic setting.

School History

Yishun Junior College was established in 1986.

The college currently offers digital art and music programmes to the students.

The school was officially declare open in 1988 and is currently located at 3 Yishun Ring Road.

School Motto

Florescat Concordia

School Crest

The college crest has the shape of a shield. It signifies the strong and firm foundation that bonds the college together while protecting the students.

The college name is conspicuously positioned to proclaim the college identity.

The college motto “Florescat Concordia” is a Latin phrase which means “Let Harmony Abound” - within ourselves, among families and friends, college, community and the nation.

An open book lies in the centre of the shield. It signifies the crucial role of the school as a premier institution of learning, delivering quality education services to the students.

The torch represents the vision, mission and core values. It is shaped from the initials of the Romanised Chinese form of the college name: Yi & Shun.

The crimson flame of the lighted torch is formed by two individual S-shapes arranged and aligned to look as one. It represents Singapore society as a whole and is a reminder to the students to let the flame of loyalty burn strongly in their hearts.

The staff of the torch comprises five quadrangles projected outwards in the shape of the letter “Y”. Firstly, it represents the five core values of the college: Integrity, Loyalty, Responsibility, Compassion and Commitment.  Secondly, it represents the faces of an open box showing our students’ freedom from the confines of restrictive thinking to solve problems innovatively by thinking “out of the box” in order to establish new perspectives, visions and dreams.

Together, the flame and staff of the torch is a flaming baton: a spirit of burning passion for the college which students will carry in their hearts and hand down to succeeding batches of students. 

The stylised lion head is a national symbol which affirms our loyalty to the nation at all times.  It also signifies the desired qualities in the students – strength, determination and courage 

The laurel leaves represent the fruits of our labour and achievements over the years. They are also a reminder to the students that success is within their reach when they work hard.
